Chhattisgarh Police on Wednesday released the name of 11 persons, including 10 District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel killed in an IED blast in Dantewada.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday expressed grief at the deaths of 11 people including 10 police personnel in the Dantewada attack and assured the Chhattisgarh government of all possible support.
Confirming the incident, Chattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said, "There is such information with us. It is very saddening. My condolences to the bereaved families. This fight is in its last stage. Naxals won't be spared."
An encounter occurred on Friday between Naxals and District Reserve Group (DRG) personnel in the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh said Sukma SP Sunil Sharma.
"An IED weighing about 5 kilograms was recovered from the area, and it was destroyed on the spot by following the security standards. All the soldiers are safe. Searching is going on in the area", officials said.
One District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan got injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast planted by Naxals in the Bahker forest on Friday, police said.
In a major breakthrough, a joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) and District Force (DF) arrested a Naxal couple carrying a cash reward of their head in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Sukma district following an encounter, a police officer said.
The incident took place between Jagargunda and Kunded under Jagargunda police station limits at around 9 am on Saturday, said Bastar Range Inspector General of Police (IG) P Sundarraj.
As many as 26 different types of equipment were recovered after an encounter broke out between the Chhattisgarh police and Naxalites in the forests in Kanker district, the officials informed on Sunday.
A joint team of DRG ( District Reserve Guard) and STP (Special Task Force) led the operation and they also recovered a weapon, explosives, medicines and other Maoist material recovered from the spot
