After a prolonged dry spell of nearly three months, snowfall finally began in both the plains and upper reaches of Doda's Bhalesa and its adjoining areas from Friday midnight.
The scenic Bhalesa region in Doda looked stunning on Wednesday morning as the sun shone on it after two days of continuous snowfall in the upper reaches.
As the Jammu and Kashmir valley is undergoing 'Chillai Kalan', a 40-day period of harsh winter, the Bhalessa area of Doda turned into a winter wonderland after a fresh spell of snowfall.
According to Doda DC Harvinder Singh, the snowfall, limited to the upper reaches of the district, will bring relief to the region's horticulture and agriculture sectors.
Srinagar received heavy snowfall on Saturday and the summer capital became covered in a blanket of snow. Doda too was covered in a blanket of snow as the area received fresh snowfall on Friday night. Tourists were seen enjoying the weather.
