Bharatiya Janata Party has alleged that Annamalai's election team is receiving threats by DMK warning them to leave the city or "suffer consequences", after polling for Lok Sabha elections concluded in the state of Tamil Nadu.
A total of 69.46 percent voter turnout was recorded in all 39 parliamentary constituencies of Tamil Nadu, where voting was held on Friday in the first phase of the Lok Sabha election.
The average voter turnout in 39 constituencies of Tamil Nadu where Lok Sabha elections are underway stood at 39.51 per cent till 1 pm as per the data released by the Election Commission of India.
Voting for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 began on Friday across 102 parliamentary constituencies spread over 21 states and Union Territories as the mega seven-phase electoral exercise commenced at 7:00 am. Voters will exercise the franchise until 6:00 pm.
As the voting is underway in all 39 seats in Tamil Nadu in the first phase of the 2024 general elections, DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin said on Friday that the INDIA alliance will sweep the elections in the state.
"Absolutely confident" that the INDIA bloc will win all 39 parliamentary seats in Tamil Nadu, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram said after casting his vote here on Friday morning.
