Forest Officials rescued a baby elephant from a 10-foot-deep abandoned well along the Baitarani River at Tuntuna under the Champua forest range in Keonjhar district of Odisha in the early hours of Thursday.
The notice was issued by the divisional forest officer, Eastern Assam Wildlife Division, Kaziranga National Park, saying the Jeep Safari and Elephant Safari in all ranges - Kaziranga, Bagori, Burapahar and Agoratoli will be closed for tourists from April 6 to 8, 2023.
Out of the eight cheetahs from Namibia that were released on September 17, 2022 in Kuno National Park, a male cheetah Oban and a female cheetah Asha were released into the open forest, said Divisional Forest Officer Prakash Kumar Verma.
According to Pradipta Baruah, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Mangaldoi Wildlife Division, the Royal Bengal tiger died a few days back due to old-age-related issues.
Jashpur Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Jitendra Upadhyay inaugurated the two-day training camp in Sarkara village of Tapkara range in the district on Thursday.
"Seven teams have been working in the rescue operation and have been deployed at the spot since yesterday night," said District/Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Gautam Buddha Nagar, Pramod Srivastava.
"Two days ago, we received information that a wild animal was spotted in the Ajnara Le Garden society. Verification was done but no evidence was found," said District/Divisional Forest Officer (DFO).
Divisional forest officer Sanjay Yadav said, "The body of an elephant was found again in the forest near Pakni village of Ghui Forest Examination Centre. The age of the elephant is said to be 20 to 25 years and the cause of the death is still unknown."
