Manipur Police Housing Corporation Superintending Engineer on Sunday informed that the temporary shelter houses being constructed for displaced families in Manipur’s Yaithibi Loukon and Thoubal districts have made 30-35 per cent progress so far adding that the work started on July 4.
Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Thursday visited a relief camp at Naorem Birahari College at Khundrakpam in Imphal East district and interacted with the displaced people who have taken shelter there.
He said that the State Government has initiated the process of land acquisition for its expansion and assured that the state government would provide government land to the displaced people whose land would be acquired in the expansion process so that no one is left homeless.
The Manipur Government is making efforts to reissue lost or destroyed documents and cards of people who were displaced from their native villages and are now in relief camps.
The Assam Rifles has evacuated over 50,000 displaced persons from all communities in the violence-hit Manipur to date and provided them safe passage, shelter, food and medicines, the paramilitary force said in a statement.
He said," We are planning to build nearly 4000 houses for those who have been displaced because of violence. The blueprint is yet to be finalised but we are looking to build a two-room set of such houses."
According to Jammu and Kashmir government, the special grievance camp is aimed to address the issues faced by the displaced people of POJK and provide them with necessary support and assistance.
