Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren, popularly known as "Dishom Guru" passed away on Monday at the age of 81 after a prolonged battle with kidney-related ailments and a recent stroke.
"Went to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital to pay homage to Shri Shibu Soren Ji. Also met his family. My thoughts are with Hemant Ji, Kalpana Ji and the admirers of Shri Shibu Soren Ji" the Prime Minister said a social media post on X.

Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha, Harivansh, mourned Shibu Soren's demise and said, "Shri Soren was a distinct Adivasi leader. Known as Dishom Guru and popular as 'Guruji' among the public, he was a leading voice in the struggle for the rights and development of tribal people."
RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Monday mourned the death of JMM founder and former Jharkhand CM Shibu Soren, calling him a towering leader of Dalits and tribals. Yadav, recalling his close ties with Soren, said, "It is a great loss for politics," and prayed for peace to the departed soul.<
