Congress MLA Irfan Hafeez on Wednesday termed the Waqf Amendment Act a state interference to the religious affairs of the Muslim community. He added that the demand for a discussion on the act in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly was justified.

National Conference MLA Tanvir Sadiq on Wednesday demanded a discussion on the Waqf Amendment Act. He asserted that it's their democratic right to express views on the bill, which affects the Muslim-majority region.
"The CM was busy with the Home Minister's visit. This is why he could not have a detailed discussion with his alliance partners. He will probably come to the house today, and only after discussions with him will we be able to decide today's business," MLA Bhat told ANI.
