The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Wednesday announced the schedule of a sit-in in Lahore against the rising inflation, Pakistan-based ARY News reported. The JI will begin its three-day sit-in in Lahore on Thursday, with the party workers gathering outside the governor's house from Al-Hamra hall.
Business leaders on Saturday said the massive increase in prices of petroleum products would further fuel inflation, intensify miseries for the common man and create serious issues for the industry due to the unbearably high cost of doing business.
Pakistan government is mulling raising the Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) on petrol and diesel from Pakistani Rupees (PKR) 50 to PKR 55 per litre with effect from July 1, 2023, Pakistan-based The News International reported.
Ishaq Dar made the announcement in a televised address on Sunday. He said that the price of kerosene oil and light diesel oil were increased by PKR 18 per litre.
