Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Nitin Nabin, along with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday arrived at Vidya Pratishthan ground to attend the last rites of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar.<
In a tragic accident that sent shock in Maharashtra and also in political circles across the country, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash while on his way to Baramati, where he was scheduled to attend functions.
"I am deeply saddened that we have reached such a point where such dirty and despicable politics are being played out even over someone's death," Fadnavis told ANI.
Speaking to ANI, the Ladakh Lieutenant Governor said that Ajit Pawar handled immense responsibilities while serving as the Deputy Chief Minister of the state and was a prominent figure in the Indian political arena.
The meeting was attended by a large number of the Party's national office-bearers, the President of the Delhi State Unit, other officials, and party workers, who paid heartfelt tributes to the departed soul and observed a two-minute silence in prayer for eternal peace.
Meanwhile, as part of the investigation into the crash, Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) officials were present at the office of VSR Ventures Private Limited, which operates the ill-fated charter plane. The AAIB team was seen placing boxes of documents into vehicles.
The small charter aircraft, which took off from Mumbai around 8 am, crashed near Baramati airport during a landing attempt 45 minutes later. Visuals from the crash spot show fire and smoke spewing from the remains of the plane.
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Ajit Pawar died in a chartered plane crash while travelling from Mumbai to Baramati this morning. Pawar was on his way to Baramati to campaign for the Zilla Panchayat elections.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Vinod Tawde on Wednesday expressed sadness over the demise of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, recalling his commanding nature and commitment to his word.
