Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah questioned the need for a new Parliament building after protesting wrestlers were detained by the police on Sunday for demanding justice.
Ace wrestlers Vinesh Phogat, Sakshee Mallik and Bajrang Punia were among others who were detained by Delhi Police on Sunday while attempting to march to the new Parliament building where they planned to stage a demonstration.
Earlier in the day, the protesting wrestlers who were trying to march towards the new Parliament from their site of protest at Jantar Mantar were stopped and detained by the security personnel in Delhi on Sunday.
Delhi police detained a man after the Gau Raksha Dal, a cow vigilante group, suspected him of carrying some material reckoned to be beef in his truck in Britannia Chowk Shakurpur in the national capital, said the police on Sunday.
"Four persons were detained for allegedly beating to death a 29-year-old man on suspicion of theft in the Kasturba Marg police station area," Mumbai police said.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) detained a USA citizen carrying six live cartridges at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), informed officials on Wednesday.
"Shortly before 10:00 p.m. Monday, Secret Service Uniformed Division officers detained the driver of a box truck after the vehicle collided with security barriers on the north side of Lafayette Square at 16th Street," according to the official statement released by US Secret Service.
