As the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Delhi and other parts of North India, health experts have warned people not to go outside from 11 am-4 pm as it can lead to several health issues.
The premier weather forecasting agency, IMD (India Meteorological Department), held out no immediate respite from the searing and scalding heatwave and has issued a red wave alert for Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh, stating that the heatwave will continue for a few days.
"We were asked for assistance by the Iranian government. We did make it clear to them that we would offer assistance, as we would do in response to any request by a foreign government in this sort of situation," US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said in a daily briefing.
