As the voting in the seventh and final phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha election began on Saturday, Aam Aadmi Party chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal appealed to the voters to exercise their franchise in large numbers "to protect democracy and the Constitution."
"Voting is a significant festival in a democracy, and everyone should exercise their right to vote. We also believe that voting is essential, so we came with our entire family and cast our votes. Voting is proceeding peacefully, and I hope it concludes peacefully as well," Manjhi said.
The elections, held in seven phases, from April 19 saw people exercising their democratic right even as temperatures rose in peak summer. The Election Commission made special efforts to ensure large participation of people in the elections.
The seven states in which polling is scheduled include Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal. Polling for remaining 42 Assembly Constituencies of the Odisha State Legislative Assembly will also take place simultaneously.
