Delhi's Karkardooma Court on Tuesday discharged five persons accused of committing the offences of arson, dacoity and other offences during North East Delhi riots of 2020.
A Delhi Court, hearing North East Delhi riots case, has framed charges under sections related to attempt to murder, rioting and other offences against 13 persons.
"An order has been issued under section 144 CrPC enforcing restrictions by the deputy commissioner of police in north-east Delhi, where communal riots broke out in 2020," the notice read.
Delhi's Karkardooma Court on Friday directed to frame charges against five men accused of burning a petrol pump in Bhajan Pura during the North East Delhi riots of February 2020.
The court said, "The convicts formed an unlawful assembly, the object whereof was to cause maximum damage to the persons belonging to Hindu community as well as their properties and to create fear & insecurity in the minds of the members of the Hindu community."
The Delhi High Court directed the police to record the statement of one of the five men, allegedly beaten by cops and forced to sing the national anthem, before the magistrate within a week.
Justice Amit Sharma of the Delhi High Court on Wednesday recused himself from hearing the petition moved by Asif Iqbal Tanha alleging the leak of material from the charge sheet against him and his confession statement to a media channel.
While hearing cases of North East Delhi riots, Delhi's Karkardooma Court on Thursday, rapped Delhi police expressing "extreme displeasure" over the conduct of the Investigation Officer (IO) and non-compliance of direction.
The Supreme Court on Monday refused to interfere with the trial court order on framing of the charges against Tahir Hussain in connection with a money laundering matter in the 2020 northeast Delhi riots.
