A press release issued by the Delhi Traffic Police said that despite sharing the traffic advisory on social media handles and websites of the Delhi Traffic Police, it is still receiving a lot of queries from the public about its traffic management plan for the summit.
"In view of the #G20Summit rehearsals to be held on 26th & 27th August, 2023 from 0900 hrs to 1230 hrs, traffic regulations will be effective on various roads. Kindly follow the advisory," the Delhi Traffic Police said in a message on X.
Vehicular movement on the road near the Red Fort returned to normalcy on Wednesday morning, days after it was halted after severe waterlogging and flood conditions as the Yamuna river continued to be in spate, officials said.
The situation of waterlogging in several low lying areas of Delhi, including on roads from Kashmere Gate to Majnu Ka Tila, has improved today as the water level slowly recedes, it said.
Commuters have been advised to avoid routes like Khan Market, Teen Murti round-about, GGR-PDR, A-Point to W-Point, Kamla Express Building, Andrews Ganj, Khanpur T-point, Under Railway Bridge at Bhairon Marg among others as roads in these areas remain water-logged.
Traffic police of Delhi informed, "In view of the water level in Yamuna reaching the danger mark of 207.5 meters, movement of traffic on Outer Ring Road between Wazirabad Bridge and Vikas Marg and Mahatma Gandhi Road between Kalighat Mandir and Delhi Secretariat will be regulated."
Water in Yamuna crossed the danger mark and an orange alert was issued for Delhi as the areas in the city continued to face water-logging due to incessant rains on Saturday and Sunday and a fresh spell of rainfall on Monday.
Delhi Police issued a traffic advisory on Friday ahead of the inauguration of the new Parliament building by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 28 and asked people to make necessary adjustments and avoid New Delhi District from 5:30 am and 3:00 pm on Sunday.
For 20 days from April 28, the carriageway of the Nala Bridge going towards Nizamuddin Railway Station will be closed for repair work, announced Delhi traffic police.
