Delhi woke up to foggy conditions on Sunday morning following a slight drop in minimum temperature. The temperature in the national capital was recorded at 7 degrees Celsius at 5:30 am.
The air quality in Delhi improved on Friday morning, moving from 'Very Poor' on Thursday to the 'Poor' category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
As per the CPCB, the AQI at IGI Airport (T3) was recorded in the 'very poor' category at 334 on Thursday morning. The AQI in the New Moti Bagh area was recorded in the 'very poor' category at 343 at 7 a.m. The air quality in Punjabi Bagh was recorded in the 'very poor' category at 405 at
The overall air quality in the national capital continued to hover in the 'very poor' category on Wednesday, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
Stubble burning has not declined as much in Punjab as it did in Haryana and other states due to non-utilisation of Centre's schemes, said Union Environment Minister Bhupinder Yadav in the Rajya Sabha.
The overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of Delhi, as per SAFAR-India (System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research), was recorded at 276 on Thursday morning.
As per the data from CPCB, the AQI at Anand Vihar stood at 291, in the IGI airport area at 279, in the ITO at 252, and in the Narela area at 283 on Wednesday.
Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Wednesday informed that the Grap-3 has been lifted in the national capital but the government is keeping an eye that the Grap-1 and 2 should be strictly implemented.
"For the past few days, the wind speed in Delhi has reduced, leading to an increase in pollution. Seeing that, we have convened a meeting today with the DPCC and officials to review the situation and discuss further steps that can be taken," he told ANI.
