"The fire broke out in the Kashmere Gate area. Among the auto spare parts materials, the plastic and rubber items caught fire," Delhi Fire Service Assistant Divisional Officer (ADO) Sumit Kumar said, speaking to ANI in the early hours of Tuesday.
Compared to the previous year, the number of fire-related incidents during Diwali in Delhi saw a slight increase in 2023. Fire Department had received 201 calls of fire-related incidents during Diwali in the year 2022.
Assistant Divisional Officer of Delhi Fire Service Rajesh Kumar Shukla said, "We received a fire call at 8.10 p.m. on Wednesday. The team immediately rushed to the spot. The fire is under control. No causality has been reported. An operation to douse the fire is underway."
As the air quality in Delhi remained in the 'Severe' category on Sunday on the fourth consecutive day, Delhi Fire Services joined hands with the Delhi Government in curbing pollution.
