Indian defence forces are planning to integrate made-in-India missiles on Predator drones, which are being acquired from the US under a foreign military sales deal.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed a wide range of opportunities for collaboration with a view to enhancing security in the Indian Ocean Region.
Taiwan tracked 11 Chinese military aircraft and four naval ships around Taiwan between 6 a.m. on June 27 (Tuesday) and 6 a.m. on June 28 (Wednesday), reported Taiwan News citing the Ministry of National Defense (MND).
The two leaders discussed a number of key areas of cooperation including cooperation in trade and investment, defence, health, medicine, agriculture, and others.
India has identified 30 critical minerals taking into account its requirements for sectors like defence, agriculture, energy, pharmaceutical, and telecom and in line with its Atmanirbar (self-reliance) roadmap.
While addressing a public meeting in Rajasthan's Balesar, the defence minister said, "There was a perception that India is a weak country, a country of the poor, which has now changed."
General Manoj Pande, Chief of the Army Staff of India (COAS), on Wednesday, visited the first pre-engineered Environment-friendly accommodation for troops constructed by the Indian Army, as per the official statement.
"Indian Navy has been operating these drones. They fall in the category of the HALE, (high altitude long endurance drones). So, we realised there is a need for having these drones for better surveillance and increased maritime domain awareness," the Navy Chief said.
Amid the questions being raised over the capabilities of the proposed Predator drone deal with the US, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar on Wednesday said the drone has got long endurance and can stay in the air for 33 hours.
