Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief K Annamalai on Sunday slammed the state government over its decision to engage in the sale of bottled drinking water through Aavin company and alleged that the new scheme is for benefitting DMK party members.
The Punjab caretaker government on Saturday took the decision to arrest more than 500 women for their alleged involvement in the arson attacks that took place in the province on May 9.
Commenting on the withdrawal AAP lawmaker Sanjeev Arora said, "Withdrawal of these banknotes is a disruption of the economy. Withdrawal of currency notes at regular intervals doesn't give a positive outlook of the economy in the eyes of investors and other countries."

Slamming the Centre over the Reserve Bank of India's decision to withdraw Rs 2,000 notes from circulation, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of misusing around Rs 1,600-1,700 crore on printing of notes.
"Last time (in 2016), new notes were introduced, which were not even fitting into the ATMs. Now again people have to put money in banks. A country can't afford such decisions as it affects people," the MNS chief added.
Hitting out at the decisions of the Congress government during the first Cabinet meeting, former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday said that there is a huge difference between the ruling party's announcements and poll promises.
According to him, his first reason was that: "The Rs 2000 notes are not being used much as a medium of exchange. In fact, they currently constitute only 10.8 per cent of Currency In Circulation (CiC)."
This significant decision was taken on Monday, as memoranda of agreement were signed between these six AIIMS, CGHS and Union Health Ministry in the presence of Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan.
A Constitution bench of the Supreme Court, in a unanimous verdict, had said that the Delhi government must have control over services, and the Lieutenant Governor is bound by its decision.
