Union Minister Chirag Paswan supports the Special Intensive Revision of Bihar's electoral rolls, calling it a necessary cleanup to ensure only eligible voters are listed, addressing issues like deceased or non-local names on the rolls.
The deceased has been identified as Neeraj Tehlan, who was reportedly involved in several criminal cases in the past and was carrying a bounty of Rs 1 lakh on his head, police said.
The controversy surfaced following reports that some of the bereaved families were being compelled to disclose financial ties to their deceased loved ones--allegedly as a prerequisite for receiving compensation.

In its order, the High Court said, "Considering the gravity of the situation and the fact that the deceased's body has been kept lying in the mortuary for the last 27 days and is needed to be given a dignified departure from the mortal world."
