In view of the cyclone Mandous maintaining its intensity of 'Severe Cyclonic Storm' till early morning hours today, three districts of Tamil Nadu were given a red alert, informed officials on Friday.
As the 'Mandous Cyclone' is likely to become severe and gather more intensity by Friday morning, the Greater Chennai Corporation issued precautionary measures and ordered to close all parks and playgrounds till further announcement.
Cyclonic Storm Mandous will cross north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coast between Puducherry and Sriharikota with a wind speed of 70 kmph around December 9 midnight, the IMD said.

Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba on Tuesday assured Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry to provide assistance from all central agencies to deal with the possible cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal.
