The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday said that the cyclonic storm Mandous landfall process is nearing completion as the rear sector of the cyclone has moved into the land and lies over north coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
"Suburban trains may be cancelled/rescheduled if necessary to prevent untoward incidents, based on weather warning reports and prevailing situation. Close liaison is being maintained with the state Meteorological Department and adjoining Railway zones for managing the situation," read the no
Devotees visiting Sri Venkateswara Swamy Vaari Temple in Tirumala on Friday faced several problems ranging from hampered Darshan to difficulty in reaching hotels as a heavy rain battered the city under the influence of Mandous cyclone.
The three states given red alerts are Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh. Doppler Weather Radar Karaikal and Chennai are monitoring the cyclone.
In Sri Lanka's Capital Colombo, and many other cities, the sky turned blue with sporadic rain as cyclone Mandous advanced. The health authorities advised children and elderly people to stay indoors.
