According to an official statement, the operation began following a complaint received at the Cyber Police Station, reporting a cyber fraud incident involving a total loss of Rs 101,100.
A man was arrested by the Dwarka Cyber Police in connection with an online fraud wherein a man was allegedly duped of Rs 32 lakh, an official said on Saturday.
According to the police, On 21 August a complaint was received at Cyber Police Station Dwarka, wherein the complainant alleged that an unknown person contacted him through Facebook and offered him to buy gold and silver jewellery at wholesale rates.
According to police, the accused have been identified as Ayoniel Miu (50) -- a Romanian national, and Firoz Ahmed Khan (38), a resident of Thane, Maharashtra.
Replying to a question from Samajwadi Party (SP) member Atul Pradhan during question hour, about the measures being taken by the government to check increasing cybercrimes in the state, he said that the government had announced that a Cyber Police Station would be set up in every district of
"Naxalite sensitive police stations Bajag, Samnapur and Karanjia will be included under it and the headquarters will be Bajag," Mishra told reporters here.
Amid increasing cases of online forgeries, cyberbullying and other cybercrimes, one dedicated cyber police station each will be established in Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Jagdalpur and Surguja police ranges.
Detailing the incident, the police said, "A complainant reported at Cyber Police Station South regarding an online fraud of Rs. 6,38,700 through unknown persons who impersonated themselves as Japanese delegates."
