Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is to chair a meeting at Sahyadri Guest House to discuss the 'agrarian crisis' after unseasonal rains across the State on Monday.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has asked the MLAs and officers to enhance their field visits for expediting the process of Girdawari and redress the problems of farmers facing crop loss.
CM gave instructions to assess the loss of crops and distribute compensation to the farmers without delay. He also instructed the relief commissioner to inform the farmers about the weather forecast and make proper use of the early warning system.
Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Friday demanded that the state government should provide appropriate compensation to the farmers who faced huge losses due to crop damage amid heavy rainfall.
Telangana Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief K Chandrashekhar Rao on Tuesday issued directions to take measures to extend financial assistance to the farmers for the crops damaged due to untimely rains and hailstorms.
The Chief Minister said, "Today, I am going to take stock of two hailstorm-affected districts that are Vidisha and Sagar. After seeing the condition of the crops of the farmers at both those places, I will talk to the farmers of the entire state."
CM Chouhan further said that the amount of crop insurance scheme would be given separately to the farmers. He also instructed the officials to include horticulture crops in the survey as well.
During the meeting, CM Chouhan said, "There has been information about untimely rain and hailstorm in 20 districts of the state. The first phase of the survey of crop damage during the rains between March 6 and March 8 has been completed. The survey for the second phase has been started for
Tamil Chief Minister MK Stalin announced relief of Rs 20,000 per hectare if the yield has suffered a loss upto 33 per cent or above. He also announced Rs 3000 will be provided if there is early crop damage due to unseasonal rainfall.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that a special survey has been ordered to assess the loss to farmers due to crop damage owing to cold and frost.
