Presenting a detailed copy of the criminal record in Pakistan's Karachi, Additional Inspector General (AIG) spokesperson said that 140 street crime incidents took place in the region in a single day.
Pakistani political party Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has launched a protest sit-in against a surge in lawlessness, crimes and narcotics in the Nowshera district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the News International reported on Sunday.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces remained under the grip of criminal activities as Pakistan suffered close to 376 terror attacks the previous year, Dailytimes reported citing a report by the Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) on Sunday.
"The crime decreased in Murder for gain by 52 per cent, Dacoity by 35 per cent, Murders by 12.5 per cent, Culpable Homicide by 47 per cent, Rape by 17 per cent, Rioting by 11 per cent, NDPS0 5 per cent, Crime against SC/ST by 1.28 per cent, POCSO0 5 per cent," read the report.
According to the official crime data of the state, the number of murders this year has reduced from 723 in 2021 to 654 in 2022 whereas kidnappings have decreased from 1,787 in 2021 to 1,645 in 2022.
Hyderabad City police on Wednesday stated that overall crime is almost the same as compared to 2021. The city reported 21998 cases in 2021 whereas 22060 cases were reported in the year 2022.
