The tourist places in the Joshimath area of Uttrakhand are lying vacant due to landslides and big cracks in the hotels. Auli, a very famous tourist place located 12 kilometers above Joshimath, is visited by people from all over the world.
Disaster Management Secretary Ranjit Kumar Sinha on Sunday inspected the landslide-affected areas in Uttarakhand's Joshimath and said that there has been an uptick in the number of cracks, but no new areas have faced damages.
In the wake of the land-subsidence crisis in Joshimath area of Uttarakhand's Chamoli, the dismantling of Hotel Malari Inn began on Friday, as per the official sources.
Owing to the land subsidence in the Joshimath area of Uttarakhand's Chamoli, where buildings and structures are in a precarious condition after having developed cracks, the Malari Inn hotel is to be demolished by the administration.
Minor cracks were observed in several buildings of the Indian Army after the Joshimath land subsidence and soldiers have been temporarily relocated, said Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pande on Thursday.
Speaking to ANI, Surendra Dev, Tehsildar of the area said that the authorities are trying to identify the buildings which do not have a scope for further reparation.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday dismissed the reports of the demolition of houses which have developed cracks due to land subsidence in the Joshimath area of Chamoli, and said that "no action" is being taken to bring down the houses.
