Section 144 has been imposed in Kanpur after the firing incident in Lucknow court premises wherein gangster Sanjeev alias Jeeva was shot ahead of a hearing.
Notably, gangster Sanjeev Jeeva, a close aide of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, was shot dead by an unknown person inside Lucknow court premises on Wednesday.
"A three-member SIT, including Mohit Agarwal, ADG Technical; Joint CP Nilabja Chaudhary and Ayodhya IG Praveen Kumar, has been constituted to investigate the incident," read an official statement from CMO.
According to the police, the accused Kameshwar Singh was produced in the Saket court by the Crime Branch team on Saturday and the court has sent him to one day of police remand. Singh will again be produced before the court on Sunday.
The victim identified as M Radha was brought to the court on Friday when the accused in the firing incident Kameshwar Singh shot at her. Both have been undergoing trial in a case pertaining to some financial transaction, Radha's lawyer claimed.
