After the World Health Organisation (WHO) made a recommendation against using two cough syrups made by Noida-based Marion Biotech on account of their "substandard quality", Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation on Thursday collected four samples of AMBRONOL syrup for investigation.<
In a Medical product alert, WHO said the "substandard medical products", manufactured by Marion Biotech, "are products that fail to meet quality standards or specifications and are therefore out of specification."
Lang Son province, a northern province of Vietnam, will be taking samples of people coming to Vietnam from China if the travelers have symptoms such as fever, coughing, or difficulty breathing, the Vietnamese newspaper VnExpress reported.

Three people were held for possessing 72,000 Tramadol Tablets and 4,920 bottles of cough syrup in Assam's Karbi Anglong on Tuesday, said police on Wednesday.
