The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena-led Mahayuti on Friday recorded sweeping victories in Navi Mumbai, Ulhasnagar, Dhule, Panvel, Jalgaon, Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad and Jalna municipal corporations, out of the 29 municipal corporations undergoing vote counting in Maharashtra.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena-led Mahayuti have gone well past the halfway mark in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls, leading on 122 of 227 seats as of 6:30 pm.
BJP's winning candidate, Shilpa Keluskar, on Friday thanked them after winning from her ward 173 in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.

Meanwhile the Shiv Sena (UBT)-MNS-NCP(SP) alliance seems to have halted on its tracks for now with leads in only 68 wards. While the UBT leads in the alliance with 60 seats, MNS has managed to stay ahead in 8, whereas NCP SP has not managed to secure a lead in any of the seats.
"Why did this injustice happen? What was their fault? It was the fault of the system, the local administration, and the municipal corporation. I believe this is a crime, and the government is shirking its responsibility...," Singhar said.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) alliance has managed to cross the 63 mark, with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) only leading in 9, and UBT leading in 53, and NCP (SP) leading only in 1.
