New Delhi [India], September 27: The Delhi High Court recently observed that there can be no objection in the actual reproduction of the text of Bhagavad Gita or Bhagavatam, but copyright law would apply to the manner in which they are interpreted by different Gurus and spiritual teachers.
The Delhi High Court said there is no copyright on the reproduction of original religious scriptures but adaption or dramatic work out of the same is entitled to the copyright protection.
“Technology gives birth to new possibilities. In new possibilities, there is always a possibility of misuse. So to stop that misuse you will have to bring laws.”
