Hours after the Assam Petroleum Mazdoor Union ordered to stop fuel transportation to Meghalaya amid a border dispute, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday said there is no shortage of petrol and diesel in the state.
Following the firing incident along the Assam-Meghalaya border, the Assam Petroleum Mazdoor Union on Friday said that it has stopped the transportation of fuel to Meghalaya. The Union sent letters to PSU oil marketing companies informing them of their decision to not load fuel in tankers.

The firing incident that took place after a clash between Meghalaya villagers and a contingent of police and forest guards from Assam has nothing to do with the border dispute between the two states, said Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
A total of six persons including five from Meghalaya and one from Assam Forest Guard were killed in the firing incident that took place in the Mukroh area along the Assam-Meghalaya border on Tuesday, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said.
Speaking to ANI, Sangma said, "We will go alone in the upcoming election of the state. We had fought alone in earlier elections also. But our support to NDA will be continued. Out of 60 assembly seats of Meghalaya, as of now, we have finalized our party candidates in 58 seats."
Ri-Bhoi police following a tip-off about the said smuggling case nabbed three notorious smugglers from Manipur. The police recovered a total of 158 boxes of high-grade heroin from them. The worth of the consignment seized is said to be around Rs 14 crores.
