As many as 85 new cases of conjunctivitis, commonly known as Pink Eye, have been reported in Pakistan’s Lahore within the past 24 hours, ARY News reported on Monday.
With the surge of conjunctivitis/eye flu amongst the school-going children in the State, schools in four districts, namely Mon Dimapur, Niuland, and Chumoukedima, have been shut down till August 26.
Uttarakhand Health Secretary R Rajesh Kumar on Friday instructed Chief Medical Officers of the state to take steps for the prevention of conjunctivitis and to make people aware of the disease.
"This is not a serious problem but can be prevented with minor cautions. It has been seen that people without consulting doctors are using steroids due to misinformation but it may lead to other complications", he said.
The cases of Conjunctivitis are on the rise in Delhi NCR, and according to Dr J S Titiyal, Chief RP Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences, AIIMS, the national capital is reporting 100 cases per day.
