Congress MP Manickam Tagore on Monday called the attempt to attack the Chief Justice of India (CJI) a result of "RSS hate", weakening respect for institutions.
Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari on Saturday slammed Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, for his "attack on democracy" remarks made abroad, terming them "very wrong" and a grave insult to the nation.
The Congress MP's remarks came after an MP delegation of the Samajwadi Party, including Mohibbullah Nadvi, Iqra Hasan, and Harendra Singh Malik, en route to Bareilly following last week's 'I Love Mohammad' row, was stopped at the Ghazipur border by the Uttar Pradesh Police.
Mata Prasad Pandey said that the Samajawadi Party-led delegation was "stopped" from going to Bareilly, where protests over "I Love Mohammad" posters on September 26 turned violent.
Speaking at an event at EIA University of Colombia on Friday, Rahul Gandhi took a swipe at the Narendra Modi government, asserting that the biggest challenge India is witnessing is the attack on its democracy.
"The democracy of this country is in danger... These people are defaming the country through 'voter chori'... Not Rahul Gandhi. Whenever he tells the truth, these people say he is defaming," Venugopal told ANI in Thiruvananthapuram.
