Congress leader KC Venugopal on Tuesday targeted Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his speech in Lok Sabha during discussion on Operation Sindoor and said he "did not utter a single word on 'security failure".
Congress MP Karti P Chidambaram on Tuesday rejected allegations that the Congress had given a clean chit to Pakistan and urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to watch the full interview of his father and senior party leader P Chidambaram before making such claims.
Earlier on July 28, Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar rejected opposition criticism of the government, following US President Donald Trump's repeated claims of mediation in ending hostilities between India and Pakistan.
"It is a historical fact that during the independence procedure, Congress accepted the partition, as a result of which Pakistan was created, so Congress is solely responsible for it. It is a black spot in the history of our country... Many mistakes were made by Congress," he said.
The Prime Minister also launched a scathing attack on Congress, saying the party is dependent on Pakistan for issues, while India is moving ahead at a fast pace towards self-reliance.
Addressing the Lower House on debate on Operation Sindoor, the Congress MP claimed that the Indian government directly told Pakistan that they do not have "political will" to fight while citing the remarks of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
