Raimondo was on her first visit to India as Secretary Commerce. She met with Jaishankar to discuss US-India relations and opportunities for further economic cooperation.
Raimondo said she was extremely optimistic. "We've been optimistic for US-India relations," she added. "Our partnership with India is one of our most consequential relationships and I think one of our most promising bilateral relationships, as we look forward."
The talks between S Jaishankar and Gina Raimondo covered strategic trade, resilient and reliable supply chains as well as trust and transparency in the digital domain.
Ahead of her visit to India, Raimondo said, "This is an optimistic time for U.S.-India relations, and I am excited to visit India during such a special time of year, the celebration of Holi," according to the statement released by the US Department of Commerce.
