Search and rescue operations were resumed earlier on Monday near the Indrayani River located in Talegaon in Maharashtra's Pune district after a bridge collapsed on Sunday afternoon.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Monday slammed the Mahayuti government in Maharashtra for the Indrayani River bridge collapse in Pune and asked Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar whether he would take responsibility for the accident, as he is the guardian minister of Pune.
Swapnil Kollam, who claims to be an eyewitness, said, "There were more than 150-200 people on the bridge but at the place where the bridge collapsed, there were more than 50 people... It is God's grace that my family is safe."
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Sunday expressed grief over the tragic collapse of a bridge on the Indrayani River in Maharashtra's Pune, which led to the death of four people and several others injured.
Senior Congress leader Pawar Khera expressed his condolences to the families of the people who were killed in the Pune bridge collapse incident on Sunday, saying that "public safety should not be an afterthought."
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), in joint operations with civil administration, has rescued four people and recovered four bodies after a narrow iron bridge collapsed over the Indrayani River near Kundmala village in Pune.
"This accident in Pune is very sad. My deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this accident. I wish for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident," Kejriwal posted on X.
"A narrow bridge over the Indrayani River in Kundmala, Pune, collapsed. 35 people were rescued initially by local efforts. NDRF, in joint ops with civil administration, rescued 4 more alive & recovered 4 bodies. Rescue operations are ongoing," the NDRF said in a post on X.
