The Bharatiya Janata Party's West Bengal unit on Thursday responded to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's remarks on the ongoing Enforcement Directorate (ED) searches, stating that the central agency's action is based on evidence and linked to the alleged illegal coal smuggling case.
In a statement, the ED said, search proceedings were being conducted by its team in a peaceful and professional manner till the arrival of West Bengal Chief Minister along with a large number of police officials.
ED's Ranchi zonal office is conducting search operations "across 18 locations in Jharkhand, which pertain to several major cases of coal theft and smuggling, covering the matters of some individuals identified as Anil Goyal, Sanjay Udhyog, LB Singh, and Amar Mandal."
