Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday launched a statewide awareness campaign on World Environment Day, pledging to eliminate plastic pollution and make the state plastic-neutral within five years.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took part in a sapling plantation event under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative in Lucknow. CM Yogi wished Ganga Dussehra and World Environment Day to the citizens of the state.
The Chief Minister said that the life-giving Ganga has an important place in our lives. "Public life cannot be imagined without Ganga and other holy rivers. Holy rivers are also a matter related to our existence," he added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on his birthday. Appreciating CM Yogi Adityanath's work in the state, PM Modi wished him a long and healthy life.
"Conservation of nature and environment is both our cultural heritage and responsibility. Under the able leadership and guidance of the respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign has been started to promote environmental conservation," Dhami said in a post on X
While speaking with ANI, the state's Finance Minister, Suresh Khanna, said that CM Yogi laid out several demands in front of the Finance Commission. This also included a demand to increase state's share in central taxes.

Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Wednesday accused Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar of being responsible for the stampede near the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru that claimed the lives of 11 and injured 30 others.
Speaking to ANI, DK Shivakumar said, "This should not have happened, and we never expected such a big crowd. The stadium's capacity is 35,000, but over 3 lakh people turned up. The gates were broken in the rush. We apologise for this incident."
