The rail traffic over the old Yamuna bridge was temporarily suspended on Tuesday as the water level crossed the dangermark in the Yamuna due to heavy downpuour in the city, officials said.
US Embassy in India took to their Twitter handle, "Attention visa applicants! Our customer service center VFS is migrating to a new platform and will be temporarily closed for calls, fee payments, and appointment booking from July 12-14. These services will resume on July 15."
All schools in Ludhiana will remain closed on Monday as the state continues to be battered by heavy rains, the district administration informed on Sunday.
"All Government and Private Schools (including Play schools etc.) falling in Gurugram district are hereby directed to remain closed tomorrow i.e. on the 10th of July in the larger public interest and for the safety & security of the students," said the Gurugram district administration
"Apart from this, one day holiday has been declared in all other schools/colleges, Anganwadi centres from class 01 to class 12 of the district," an officials statement said.
In the wake of the continuous spell of heavy rain in north India and adjoining areas, schools in Chandigarh have been closed for the next two days, officials said on Sunday.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said, "In view of the heavy rains in the state, all government and private educational institutions recognized by the state government will remain closed on July 10 and 11."
"In view of the torrential rains lashing Delhi for the last 2 days and warnings from the Meteorological Department, all schools in Delhi are being closed for a day tomorrow," Kejriwal said in a tweet in Hindi on Sunday.
After schools and universities closed, many female students in war-torn Afghanistan turned to training in tailoring, and have called on the Taliban to reopen schools, TOLOnews reported.
