Residents in border villages in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri are returning to their homes on Thursday morning after they were forced to flee their homes in panic, seeking safety in the wake of the intense shelling by Pakistan on Wednesday.
The Punjab Police has canceled the leaves of all its officers and employees with immediate effect, citing heightened security measures. The move comes as part of efforts to maintain law and order, although further details on the reasons for the decision have not been disclosed.
"Taking utmost caution, the Amritsar district administration has again started the blackout process. Please stay at home, do not panic and do not gather outside your houses; keep the outside lights switched off," the Amritsar DPRO said in a statement.
