Following the death of eight people after allegedly consuming spurious liquor in Viluppuram, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Monday said the case will be transferred to Crime Branch CID for further probe.
CID alleged that both Chandrababu Naidu and P Naryana used their positions in their previous tenures to provide benefits to their relatives and close friends Chandrababu is accused of favouring businessman and taking a guest house in return.
According to officials, acting on reliable input, Mizoram Police Special Branch (CID SB) team on Tuesday evening intercepted one truck at Seling, Aizawl road area and seized 2.553 kg (200 soap cases) of heroin from the vehicle.
"It is the style of the Chief Minister, Jagan Mohan Reddy of diversion drama. The arrest of a Backward Class leader who is not facing any cases is possible only in this government," TDP leader Lokesh said during his Yuva Galam pada yatra on Sunday.
The Special Operation Group of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), West Bengal, on Thursday seized counterfeit currency notes, valued at Rs 94,000, and arrested one person in this connection from Murshidabad district.
"These search operations were undertaken as part of an investigation into the cases registered by AP-CID against seven branches of MCFPL under sections 420, 409, 120(B), 477(A) read with 34 IPC and Sec 5 of APPDFE Act-1999 and Sec 76, 79 of Chit Funds Act 1982," an official release stated.
"Stone pelting and bombing near Rishra Railway Station forced the suspension of local and express train services on the Howrah-Bardhaman Line," Adhikari tweeted.
Amid the political furore, the Mamata Banerjee government on Friday handed over the probe into Howrah violence to Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
"Stone pelting happened during Ram Navami's procession in Howrah. Instead of delivering justice Mamata Bandopadhyay (Banerjee) gave a clean chit to stone pelters who took the law into their hands and attacked the Shobha Yatra of Ram Navami," Irani said.
