After External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar underscored the need for "mutual respect, sensitivity, and interests" in India-China relations, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stressed the importance of cooperation between the two nations.
In his remarks at the reception, Wang Lei said that India and China should jointly maintain peace and tranquility in border areas, forging a path for the neighbouring nations to co-exist in harmony and create a better future together.
Jaishankar stated that India has to prepare for expressions of China's growing capabilities, especially those that impinge directly on India's interests.
He criticized China for trying to undermine Taiwan's democracy, calling these efforts "counterproductive" and harmful to trust-building between the two sides.
MEA said that India and China have reaffirmed their commitment to explore a "fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable framework" for the settlement of the boundary question in accordance with the political parameters and guiding principles agreed in 2005.
