Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh each for the families of the three students who drowned in an 'aahar' (pond) in Bihar's Gaya.

Sharing information about the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North East Joy Tirkey, said, "Two children died after drowning in a deep ditch that was filled with rainwater in the New Usmanpur area today. The incident took place around 5:00 pm in the New Usmanpur area."
Three children from Jagatsinghpur village in Bihar died due to drowning in the Burhi Gandak River. Five children initially drowned, but locals managed to save two of them.
