Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said that the government is firm in its resolve to end the "menace of child marriage" in the state.
Congress MP Ranjeet Ranjan on Sunday attacked Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on his remark to the women for attaining motherhood and said that he should get himself treated first.
"We will launch a massive crackdown against child marriage in the state. Those marrying girls below the age of 14 years, will be booked under the POCSO Act," the CM said.
Noting Pakistan's previous attempts to pass legislation prohibiting forced conversions and protecting religious minorities, the UN experts deplored the lack of access to justice for victims and their families.
