The Chhindwara mayor had joined the BJP on April 1 in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and the state party president Vishnu Dutt Sharma in the state capital.
Madhya Pradesh recorded a robust 53.40 per cent voter turnout till 3 am in the first phase of polling for six parliamentary seats in the state, according to data released by the Election Commission on Friday.
CM Yadav also said that he was happy that over 1.09 crore voters would be voting in six Lok Sabha seats in the state which include Sidhi, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Mandla, Balaghat and Chhindwara in the first phase of LS polls.
While going to the polling station, Nath told ANI, "I have full faith in the people of Chhindwara. They are the witness of history of the last 44 years and I have full hope that they will stand by the truth."
For six seats, 88 candidates are in the fray, including former Chief Minister Kamal Nath's son Nakul Nath from Chhindwara and Union Minister Faggan Singh Kulaste from Mandla (ST).
