Following the mass murder of Naxals, Chhattisgarh Police Inspector General (IG) Amresh Mishra categorically stated that Naxalites must either "surrender" or "face combat" and "welcome those who surrender" and "come to the mainstream".
In a significant development in the fight against Left Wing Extremism, twelve Naxals, including five women and seven men, surrendered before police authorities in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district on Thursday. The surrendered cadres carried a cumulative bounty of Rs 18 lakh, officials said.
The operation was carried out jointly by the 207 Battalion of CoBRA and the Chhattisgarh Police, who also recovered the bodies and weapons of the slain extremists.
