To ensure a safe and secure Char Dham yatra, scheduled to commence on May 10, Uttarakhand police have deployed forces, separately at all four Dhams on the yatra routes.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) conducted a tabletop exercise at the Secretariat auditorium in Dehradun on Tuesday to review the ongoing preparations for the upcoming Char-Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand on May 10.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday said that all the preparations have been done for Char Dham Yatra and around 16 lakh people have registered for the Yatra.

This year, Char Dham Yatra will begin on May 10, with the opening of three of the four shrines, including Gangotri, Yamunotri and Kedarnath. The doors of Badrinath shrine will open on May 12.
The high-altitude shrines remain shut for around six months every year, opening in summer (April or May) and closing with the onset of winter (October or November).

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday said that over 46 lakh devotees embarked on Char Dham Yatra, which comprises the four holy shrines-- Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath-- so far this year.
In an order issued on Monday, the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority said, "Char Dham Yatra stopped temporarily on the 14th and 15th August following disruption in the movement of traffic due to landslides after heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand."
