At least 10 people died and several were injured after a transformer exploded on the banks of the Alaknanda River in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, officials said on Wednesday.
"A valley bridge on the border road leading to the Indo-China border, 9 km ahead of Malari, has come under threat due to the rapid flow of the river," BRO Commander Colonel Ankur Mahajan said.
Following incessant rainfall in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, the Badrinath National Highway (NH-7) got blocked after boulders and debris has come on highway near Pipalkotim, said officials.
According to the officials, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is working to open the highway. They said that due to the blockage of the highway, many passengers are stranded.
Authorities closed the Badrinath National Highway 7 (NH 7) at Chhinka in the State's Chamoli district leaving many commuters, including pilgrims and tourists travelling to and returning from the famed Badrinath shrine.
