Following the land subsidence in Joshimath town of Uttarakhand, Chamoli District Magistrate Himanshu Khurana on Thursday said the authorities are seeking suggestions for suitable land for permanent relocation of affected families.
Higher mountain ranges in Joshimath including Chamoli district and the holy shrine of Badrinath in Chamoli district were covered in a blanket of snow received fresh snowfall.
As per information, 900 ration packets each consisting of 5 kgs of rice, 5 kg of flour, oil and 2,350 blankets were given to the affected people of the Joshimath area in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Many families have been affected due to the land subsidence in the area.
"Each family will be given immediate interim assistance of Rs 1.50 lakh. Apart from the two hotel buildings which are marked 'unsafe', no other building is being demolished. Till now, cracks have been noticed in 723 buildings," the Secretary to Uttarakhand chief minister R Meenakshi Sunda
Chamoli District Magistrate Himanshu Khurana on Tuesday said buildings marked unsafe in Joshimath town will be demolished in a scientific manner, under the supervision of the team of experts from the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) Roorkee.
Amid civilian fears in the wake of land subsidence in the Joshimath area, fresh cracks were seen on some houses in Bahuguna Nagar of Karnaprayag Municipality in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand.
