Guwahati Customs destroyed cigarettes valued at over Rs 29 crores and Ganja worth over Rs 14 crores as part of Special Campaign 3.0, officials said on Thursday.
One of the key highlights of the campaign this year has been the efficient disposal of seized commodities, particularly narcotic substances and cigarettes, read the press release issued by the Ministry of Finance.

The ceremony was held at a hotel in Assam's Guwahati on Friday morning. The Presidential Award of Appreciation Certificate was awarded to 29 officers and staff of CBIC.
Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday instructed Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) to implement an action plan to increase the taxpayer base through enhanced use of technology.
The gross GST revenue collected in January 2023 was Rs 1,55,922 crore. This was for the third time, in the current financial year, GST collection has crossed Rs 1.50-lakh-crore mark.
Chairman Johri said, "We feel that there is a good scope for increasing the tax base. We will take the help of power distribution companies, take the data of electric meters and will also use the property tax data to increase the tax base of GST."
