Preliminary investigation into the Mumbai Monorail incident on Tuesday evening has revealed that overcrowding was the primary cause of the disruption, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) stated in a press note.
The incident occured under Bandalguda police station limits. Police suspect electrocution as the cause of deaths. The bodies have been shifted to the mortuary for post-mortem examination, while the injured has been admitted to a hospital.
As per the cumulative report by SDMA,140 fatalities were caused by rain-related incidents such as landslides, flash floods, drowning, and electrocution, while 128 people died in road accidents triggered during the season.
